Project Overview
Climate Platform is a consulting practice operating across the climate value chain, advising governments, institutions, and project developers on climate finance, policy, and technical delivery. As an organization working internationally on UN-level climate frameworks, the website needed to function as a credible reference point for a non-English-speaking audience just as much as for English-speaking partners, while organizing a large volume of service and resource content into a navigable structure.
Business Goals
The client needed a WordPress website that could present a complex, multi-service consulting offering clearly while remaining accessible to an international audience. Climate finance and policy work spans dozens of countries and language groups, so multilingual support was treated as a core requirement rather than an add-on. The site also needed to house a deep content structure — team pages, mandate documentation, careers, downloadable resources, and multiple sub-service pages — without becoming difficult to navigate.
Website Strategy
Given the volume of content across the About, Services, Knowledge, Policies, and References sections, the navigation was planned around a multi-level dropdown structure rather than a flat menu. Each top-level item — About, Services, References — branches into focused sub-pages, allowing visitors with a specific interest (a potential partner researching the team, a government body reviewing the mandate, a journalist looking for past work) to reach relevant content in two clicks or fewer. This structure also gave the multilingual setup a clean foundation, since each page needed to be reliably translatable without breaking the menu hierarchy.
Design & Development Process
The Astra theme was selected as the foundation for its lightweight footprint and strong compatibility with Elementor, which handled the page-building work across the site’s many templates. Astra’s global style controls kept typography, spacing, and color usage consistent across dozens of pages built independently in Elementor — important on a site this size, where visual drift between pages becomes a real risk without a disciplined base theme.
The homepage uses a slider-driven hero section to rotate between the firm’s core messages — climate finance advisory, policy progress updates, and project bankability — giving the organization a way to surface time-sensitive announcements (such as UAE Consensus updates) without requiring a homepage rebuild each time. Below the hero, the “Areas of Work” section breaks the service offering into four clear categories: climate finance advisory, climate policy advisory, technical services, and capacity building — each with its own dedicated page reachable through a “Learn More” link.
Technical Implementation
The site runs on WordPress with the Astra theme and Elementor as the primary page builder. A GTranslate-based plugin setup was implemented to provide multilingual access, allowing international visitors to view content in their preferred language without requiring a fully duplicated content structure for each language. This approach was chosen over manual multilingual content management given the size of the site and the practical need to keep translation maintenance low for the client’s internal team.
The footer architecture reflects the site’s institutional nature, housing organized link groups for About, Services, and Contact alongside a newsletter signup modal triggered via an Elementor popup action — keeping the lead capture mechanism present without occupying primary page real estate.
User Experience Improvements
With this much content depth, wayfinding was the central UX problem to solve. The dropdown navigation, consistent “Learn More” patterns on service cards, and a dedicated References section separating past work from testimonials all reduce the cognitive load on a visitor trying to evaluate the firm’s credibility and relevant experience. The structure assumes visitors arrive with specific research intent — partner organizations, funding bodies, or governments — rather than casual browsing behavior, and the navigation was built to support that.
Performance Optimization
Astra’s lightweight base reduces the performance overhead that Elementor-heavy builds can otherwise introduce, particularly important for a site serving international visitors on varying connection speeds. Asset loading was kept consistent across templates by relying on Astra’s theme-level style management rather than allowing individual Elementor pages to load redundant custom CSS.
Mobile Optimization
The multi-level dropdown navigation was rebuilt for mobile as a collapsible menu structure, preserving the full information architecture without overwhelming smaller screens. Elementor’s responsive controls were used throughout to adjust the hero slider, service cards, and footer link groups across breakpoints, ensuring the multilingual switcher and core navigation remain usable on mobile regardless of selected language, since translated text strings vary significantly in length.
Conversion Optimization
For a consulting organization, conversion is less about a single CTA and more about guiding the right audience segment to the right contact path. The site supports this with a dedicated Contact Us page, a separate accreditation login for partner organizations, and a newsletter signup for ongoing engagement with visitors not yet ready for direct contact. This layered approach reflects the actual sales cycle of institutional climate consulting, where most relationships begin with information gathering rather than an immediate enquiry.
Final Outcome
The completed site gives Climate Platform a structured, multilingual web presence capable of supporting its international advisory work. The Astra and Elementor combination provides a maintainable foundation for an organization that will continue adding service pages, knowledge resources, and policy updates over time, while the translation integration removes a significant barrier for non-English-speaking stakeholders engaging with the firm’s work.
Conclusion
This multilingual WordPress development project shows how a deliberate combination of Astra, Elementor, and translation tooling can support an organization with genuinely international reach. The navigation architecture, consistent design system, and accessible multilingual setup work together to make a complex consulting offering easy to explore regardless of a visitor’s starting language or specific area of interest.
